The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Chinwe Nnabuife of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) as the victor in the rerun election for Orumba North and Orumba South Federal Constituency in Anambra, Nigeria.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Gabriel Anene, disclosed that Nnabuife secured 14,416 votes, surpassing the closest candidate, Okwudili Ezenwankwo of the PDP, who garnered 13,087 votes. Kanayo Eze of the APGA trailed with 10,479 votes.

Nnabuife expressed gratitude for the election outcome and pledged to prioritize transformative legislative agendas for the constituency. She lauded INEC’s transparency and promised to provide exemplary representation, urging fellow candidates to prioritize the constituency’s interests.

YPP agent, Mr. Calistus Nwosu, hailed the election as a testament to the electorate’s will and called on the newly elected representative to serve with impartiality and dedicated representation.

The rerun election was necessitated by a court order following a challenge by Ezenwankwo regarding the initial election outcome on February 25, 2023. Nnabuife’s victory underscores the shifting political landscape in Anambra.
