Kabiru Dogo has stepped down from his role as head coach of Wikki Tourists FC after a poor start to life in the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League season, The reports.
The Kwara-born tactician didn’t travel with the team to Port Harcourt ahead of their match-day five encounter against Rivers United, billed for Wednesday (today), with the news of his resignation making the rounds on Tuesday afternoon.
Dogo quit the role in his second season with the club, after teaming up with the Bauchi side at the end of the 2021 season, when they finished 15th on the table, three points above the relegation zone. He led Wikki to a 10th place finish in the 2022 season.
With their position expected to get better in the new abridged season, the fortunes of the club have been dwindling with just a point in four games so far. The only point came from the home draw against Doma United on Sunday.
With three loses and one draw, the management of the club issued a two-game ultimatum for the technical crew to get their season back on track, but Dogo has now left the pressure to be handled by the rest of the crew.
Head coach of the team, Abdullah Adamu, will take charge of the midweek tie against Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Wednesday (today).
