APC Governorship Aspirants Petition for Removal of Imo State Governor as Election Committee Chairman

Several leading aspirants in the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary have called for the removal of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, as Chairman of the Election Committee. In a joint statement issued ahead of a rerun of the primary, the aspirants, including Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Lucky Imasuen, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and General Charles Airhiavbere, expressed concerns about Uzodinma’s alleged disregard for due process and the law.
According to the aspirants, Uzodinma’s actions during the primary did not comply with the Electoral Act and the APC constitution, raising doubts about his ability to ensure a fair election process. They have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to replace Uzodinma with a respected party member who will uphold the law, protect internal democracy, and safeguard the party’s integrity.
The petition reflects growing tensions within the APC as key figures challenge the conduct of the primary, highlighting the importance of fair and transparent electoral practices within the party.
