He highlighted the legislative and federal government’s efforts to address the situation and emphasized the lack of awareness among the protestors. Akpabio also emphasized the disbursement of additional funds to state governments to alleviate the food situation, which he expects to benefit the citizens.
However, his remarks triggered backlash from various quarters. Some criticized Akpabio for his alleged insensitivity and condescending attitude towards the populace’s plight. Deji Adeyanju, the convener of Concerned Nigerians, labeled Akpabio as delusional and out of touch with the reality on the ground. Other social media users also expressed their discontent with Akpabio’s assertion, claiming that he is detached from the suffering of the people.
