The breaking of the fast during Ramadan is a cherished tradition at the Aso Rock Villa, the official residence of the Presidents of Nigeria since 1999. This year, President Bola Tinubu had the honor of leading the Magrib prayer to kick off the evening’s festivities.
The event, held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, was a gathering of esteemed guests including members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), Ministers of Information and National Orientation, Housing, FCT, Transportation, and Youths, as well as Service Chiefs. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) highlighted the significance of this annual tradition that has been observed for over two decades.
The Chief Imam of the Villa, Abdulwahid Suleiman, led the guests in prayer before President Tinubu guided them to the banquet, where they enjoyed a meal together for about an hour before the night prayer of Isha.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a time of fasting from dawn to dusk for adult Muslims around the world. This period of spiritual reflection and self-discipline lasts for either 29 or 30 days, culminating in the joyous celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
As the sun sets on another day of fasting, the Aso Rock Villa continues to uphold this tradition of unity, prayer, and fellowship during the holy month of Ramadan.
