The Federal Government said it had spent N612.6 billion in loans raised through Sovereign Sukuk between 2017 and 2021 for the construction and rehabilitation of 77 roads and 23 bridges.

Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, disclosed this on Monday at the symbolic 2022 Sukuk Issue proceeds of a N130 billion cheque presentation ceremony in Abuja.

She said the Ministry of Works and Housing constructed four bridges and 71 roads.

The Minister added that the FCTA built six roads and 19 bridges.

She said, “As of date, this administration has invested the sum of N612.557bn raised through sovereign Sukuk between 2017 and 2021 for the construction and rehabilitation of critical economic road projects in the six geo-political zones and the Federal Capital Territory”.
