The Civil Societies Directorate, an arm of the Tinubu‑Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, began its mobilisation drive on Tuesday to garner votes for the party’s flag‑bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. This electioneering effort comes a month after former director of PCC Civil Societies, Naja’atu Mohammed, announced her resignation from the council. After defecting to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Naja’atu has remained a thorn in the side of the ruling APC, frequently appearing on media platforms to criticize the party, its presidential candidate and the presidency for what she calls insensitivity and ineptitude. The Tinubu‑Shettima PCC, which has labelled her a mole, expressed confidence that her departure would not be missed.
Speaking at the official inauguration of the “Renewed Hope Ambassadors” in Abuja, the new director of the PCC Civil Societies Directorate and former Yobe South lawmaker, Mohammed Hassan, lamented Naja’atu’s sudden exit and the campaign’s inadequate funding. He acknowledged that the campaign team had left disappointments behind but emphasized that the APC chieftain remained optimistic that the newly unveiled ambassadors would intensify their mobilisation drive and spread the message of hope to prospective voters nationwide. Hassan said, “The directorate has faced challenges that have hindered the effective discharge of its assignment—from being poorly equipped by the Presidential Campaign Council to the recent exit of its head to another party. However, the distinguished members cannot sit idle; hence the birth of this laudable programme. We are confident that extraordinary possibilities will manifest in the coming days. The fire has been ignited and we will get the votes. Too many people have sacrificed for us. Let us rise up and do something great for our children so that history will judge us kindly.”
In his earlier address, Dr. Tunji John Asaolu, National Coordinator of the newly constituted “Renewed Hope Ambassadors,” explained that the Civil Societies Directorate is mandated to aggressively promote the APC presidential candidate’s manifesto and spread the message of hope to voters across all polling units. He noted that the new ambassadors are expected to establish vote‑canvassing teams of 20 persons in each of the 176,846 polling units across the six geopolitical zones. “They shall be present in every polling unit in Nigeria to sensitize eligible voters in line with the Renewed Hope Manifesto of the Tinubu‑Shettima Presidency ahead of the February 25 presidential election. The target is to mobilise twenty votes in each polling unit, totaling 3,534,920 votes, though this figure is not a limit,” he said.
