With less than 17 days remaining until the general election, the prayer arm of the Igbo Elders Consultative Forum (IECF) began a 14‑point prayer and fasting session on Tuesday, seeking a peaceful electoral process. The forum warned that “certain wicked agents of destabilisation and habitual enemies of peace and progress, masquerading as ethnic and religious bigots, may attempt to foment crisis,” but asserted that the “overpowering power of God shall supernaturally contain and neutralise their excesses to their own chagrin.”

Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, leader of the IECF and former governor of Anambra State, emphasized that no one should underestimate the efficacy of prayer in the forthcoming elections. The spiritual exercise was themed “Emergence of a New Nigeria Through Effectual Intercession.” He added, “In absolute obedience to a privileged instruction from the divine spirit, the Igbo Elders Consultative Forum hereby climaxes the long‑held intercession.”

Evangelist Iwuchukwu Ezenwafor of the Ark Bearer of New Nigeria also spoke, declaring that Nigeria, as “the Giant of Africa by destiny,” is not a coincidence but a standard‑bearer, pace‑setter, trailblazer, and exemplar of an ideal developing country, even within the current democratic and electioneering context. His prayer points included:

– That, as a nation with a significant population of true worshippers of the Lord God Almighty, the grace, mercy, compassion, and power of the Almighty will continuously oversee the upcoming general election and ensure a smooth transition to new administrations at all levels.
– That, despite the likely attempts of notorious elements of disorder and destabilising agents disguised as ethnic and religious bigots, the ever‑present influence of the divine spirit will supernaturally contain and neutralise their excesses.
– That the general election will reflect an exceptional improvement, establishing an unprecedented credibility record that will revolutionise future electoral processes in Nigeria and across the African continent.
– That each elective office will be won decisively by the best candidate approved by God Almighty and graciously accepted by the majority of Nigerians.
