Gaza City, Gaza – At least 94 people were killed and more than 400 were wounded by Israeli airstrikes in central Gaza on Saturday, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The strikes are part of intensified Israeli operations in the central belt of the enclave.
Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera reported an even higher death toll, citing the Gaza government media office, which confirmed 210 fatalities by Saturday evening.
The al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, located near the site of the attacks, received many of the dead and injured. Khalil al-Dagran, the hospital spokesperson, described the scene as harrowing, with bodies left lying in the streets due to the overwhelming number of casualties.
Al-Dagran confirmed that the fatalities and injuries resulted from Israeli fire in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp earlier in the day. The strikes have added to the mounting humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with hospitals struggling to cope with the influx of wounded civilians.
The situation in Gaza remains dire as airstrikes continue and the death toll rises, raising international concerns over the escalating conflict.
