The Nigerian stock market rebounded after the previous day’s pullback, with investors’ profit rising by N69 billion. The All‑Share Index increased by 127.29 points, a gain of 0.23 percent, closing at 54,427.05 points. Consequently, market capitalisation climbed to N29.645 trillion, reflecting the N69 billion increase in value.
The appreciation was driven by gains in medium‑ and large‑cap stocks such as Dangote Cement, Zenith Bank, Africa Prudential, International Energy Insurance, and Fidelity Bank. However, market breadth remained negative, as 11 stocks posted gains while 23 declined. Triple Gee & Company recorded the highest price increase, up 9.52 percent to N1.15 per share. International Energy Insurance followed with a 9.40 percent rise to N1.28, and Japaul Gold & Ventures gained 3.45 percent to N0.30 kobo per share. AXA Mansard Insurance rose 2.50 percent to N2.05, and Africa Prudential appreciated 2.46 percent to N6.25 per share.
On the downside, Trans‑Nationwide Express led the losers’ chart, falling 9.76 percent to 74 kobo per share. Transnational Corporation of Nigeria declined 7.35 percent to N1.26, while Courteville Business Solutions dropped N6.00 to 47 kobo per share. Prestige Assurance lost 4.76 percent to 40 kobo, and UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust shed 4.41 percent to N3.25 per share.
Total trading volume decreased by 24.22 percent to 151.583 million shares, worth N1.811 billion, across 2,974 deals. The most active shares were Universal Insurance, with 20.036 million shares valued at N4.007 million; Transcorp, with 18.685 million shares worth N24.620 million; and Guaranty Trust Holding Company, trading 17.029 million shares valued at N427.738 million. Sterling Bank traded 15.625 million shares valued at N23.903 million, while United Bank for Africa transacted 7.739 million shares worth N64.689 billion.
