Tinubu’s Limited Experience to Manage Nigeria, Says PDP Chieftain

Nigeria’s Ruling Party in Need of Opposition’s Expertise, Says PDP Chieftain

A prominent figure within Nigeria’s main opposition party, Segun Sowunmi, has spoken out about the country’s current leadership, saying that President Bola Tinubu’s limited experience in managing a complex country like Nigeria is a major concern.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Monday, Sowunmi argued that Tinubu’s background in managing the city of Lagos does not prepare him for the responsibilities of governing a nation like Nigeria. “Lagos is not Nigeria,” he emphasized. “You cannot run a big nation like ours in the manner that suggests you have not thought through your policies and you have not come up with creative ways to solve the problem.”

Sowunmi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), believes that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration is in need of the opposition’s expertise to effectively govern the country. He suggested that former President Atiku Abubakar, one of Tinubu’s opponents in the 2023 election, would have managed the economy better and averted the need for the planned #EndBadGovernance protest gaining momentum among Nigerian youths.

The PDP chieftain’s remarks have sparked debate about the state of Nigeria’s government and the need for collaborative leadership.
