The Nigeria Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has issued a digital broker licence to Bambooystems Technology Limited. In a statement released on Thursday, the firm said the licence permits it to operate in the Nigerian capital market and list Nigerian securities on its platform. It also enables Bamboo to expand its relationships with financial‑service providers and offer its Application Programming Interface (API) services.

The SEC’s issuance of the licence ensures oversight of Bamboo’s relationship with its sponsoring broker, Lambeth Capital, while allowing the company to partner with multiple brokers to serve its clients. Bamboo highlighted that it has been delivering top‑tier technology solutions, grounded in industry best practices, to give Nigerian retail investors access to an unprecedented range of digital securities for long‑term wealth building.

Richmond Bassey, Chief Executive Officer and Co‑founder, described the achievement as a significant turnaround and affirmed the company’s commitment to its obligations. “We are thrilled to reach this important milestone and are fully committed to our duties as a registered digital broker,” he said. “We are grateful for our collaboration with the SEC, which has demonstrated its dedication to protecting investors while fostering innovation.”

Bamboo is an online brokerage app that enables Africans to invest in real time across local and foreign asset classes.
