Airtel Payments Bank Launches Smartwatch with National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) Technology

Airtel Payments Bank, a leading fintech company, has announced the launch of a new smartwatch in collaboration with Noise and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) at the Global Fintech Fest 2024. The Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch is a payments-cum-fitness solution that comes equipped with an integrated RuPay chip, allowing users to make transactions directly from their wrist.

The smartwatch features NCMC integration, enabling tap-and-pay transactions at merchant locations, transit systems, and more across India. Users can toggle contactless payments on or off from the smartwatch, making it convenient to make payments without needing to carry cash or cards. Additionally, the smartwatch can issue transport concessions and monthly passes, and users can make payments at contactless terminals up to Rs. 5,000 without entering their PIN.

The smartwatch also comes with traditional health and fitness monitoring features, including blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), body temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure measurement. It can track 130 sports modes and allows users to customize their watch faces with over 150 cloud-based options. The smartwatch supports Bluetooth calling and has IP68 dust and water resistance.

The Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch features a TFT LCD screen with 550nits brightness and displays notifications, call reminders, and messages when connected to a smartphone. The device promises a battery life of up to 10 days on a single charge.

Although the price of the smartwatch has not been announced, Airtel Payments Bank plans to make it available for purchase through online and retail platforms of the bank soon.
