Super Eagles stars Paul Onuachu and Joe Aribo will work under a new manager at Southampton after the club sacked Nathan Jones on Sunday morning. Jones had been in charge for only three months, but a disastrous season saw Southampton languish at the bottom of the Premier League table with just 15 points from 22 matches and a goal difference of –22.
Southampton lost 2‑1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday evening. The following morning the club issued a statement on its official website confirming that Jones had been relieved of his duties. “Southampton Football Club can confirm it has parted company with Men’s First Team Manager Nathan Jones,” the statement read. “First‑Team Coaches Chris Cohen and Alan Sheehan have also left the club. First‑Team Lead Coach Rubén Sellés will take charge of training and prepare the team ahead of next weekend’s game against Chelsea.”
The Saints have won only one of their last 11 Premier League games, with Saturday’s defeat marking their ninth loss in that span. Deadline‑day signing Onuachu made his full Premier League debut in the loss, being substituted in the 74th minute for Che Adam’s, while Aribo came on five minutes later in place of Carlos Álvarez.
