Nigeria international Moses Simon is racing against time to be fit for Nantes’ Europa League clash with Italian giants Juventus on Thursday, after sustaining a thigh injury, Sports Extra reports. The Super Eagles winger has not featured for the French side since picking up the injury in the second half of the Canaries’ 2‑0 home defeat to Marseille on 1 February.

Since then, Simon has missed Nantes’ subsequent Ligue 1 victory away at Ajaccio, their penalty‑shootout win over Angers in the Coupe de France, and the league match against Lorient on Sunday. However, French publication L’Équipe suggests that manager Antoine Kombouaré could have the 27‑year‑old available for the crucial first leg of the Europa League knockout round against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Thursday. The outlet wrote: “Apart from Merlin, absent at least until the end of April. Pallois resumed collective training on Thursday, Moses Simon (thigh) could also return for Turin.”

Although he has been sidelined in recent weeks, Simon remains one of Nantes’ most influential attacking players, having contributed five goals and two assists in 19 Ligue 1 games this season.
