The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed that it invited All Progressives Congress chieftain Femi Fani‑Kayode to address his allegations that some military personnel were planning to seize power. In a series of tweets on Saturday, Fani‑Kayode claimed that certain military officers had met with Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to sabotage the 2023 elections and plot a coup. The military denied the accusations, affirming its loyalty to the constitution and the democratic system.
On Monday morning, Fani‑Kayode announced that he had received the DSS invitation and would honor it, stating he had nothing to fear. According to a brief message from DSS spokesperson Peter Afunanya, Fani‑Kayode arrived at the service office at 9 a.m. on Monday, 13 February 2023, in response to the invitation extended to him by the Service.
