For University of Ilorin Celebrates 39th Convocation with Grand Programme
The University of Ilorin is gearing up to celebrate its 39th convocation, a ceremony that promises to be grand and memorable. According to Kunle Akogun, Director of Corporate Affairs, the university has scheduled a range of activities aimed at honoring its graduating class.
At the heart of the celebration is the involvement of President Bola Tinubu, who will officially commission some newly-completed projects at the institution. This momentous occasion takes place on October 22, a testament to the university’s commitment to producing high-quality infrastructure.
One day prior, on October 18, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, will deliver the 2024 Convocation Lecture. Titled “Nurturing Democratic Values and Education for the Future of Nigeria,” the lecture seeks to inspire and educate young minds about the importance of democratic values and education. The event will kick-off with a news conference led by the Vice-Chancellor on October 17, setting the stage for what promises to be an incredible celebration.
In addition to the lecture, the campus will also host a captivating convocation play, dubbed “Nilee Wa” or “In Our Land”, on October 18, at the Performing Arts Theatre. This artistic expression provides a unique platform for graduands to showcase their skills and talents.
The crowning jewel of the week-long celebration is the main convocation event, happening on October 21 and 22. This glorious occasion marks the culmination of years of hard work by graduands of four-year, five-year, and postgraduate programs.
According to Mr. Akogun, the convocation ceremony will recognize the achievement of these students, emphasizing the university’s dedication to academic excellence and the country’s future.
