Enyimba head coach, Finidi George claimed his side’s strong defensive performance played a key role in their victory against Shooting Stars on Wednesday.
The eight-time champions defeated the Oluyole Warriors 2-0 in front of a scanty crowd at the Enyimba International Stadium.
Red-hot forward Emeka Obioma bagged a brace in the game.
“It’s important to have a solid defence, hopefully, that will take us to where we wanted to be,” Finidi told the club’s media.
“They (defenders) have been solid. They are doing a good job. The whole team is doing well. That played a key role in our victory.”
Enyimba is in second position on the Group A table with 16 points from eight matches, four points adrift of leaders Bendel Insurance.
Finidi’s side is away to Bendel Insurance this weekend.
