Super Eagles will get substantive head coach soon — NFF President Gusau

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Ibrahim Gusau, has revealed that the soccer house will soon appoint a substantive head coach for the Super Eagles.

Former international Augustine Eguavoen has been in temporary charge of the Super Eagles since Finidi George left the post in June 2024.

Eguavoen guided the Super Eagles to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification last November.

NFF, however, remains adamant about appointing an expatriate to take charge of the three-time African champions.

Gusau hinted that they are awaiting the report of the technical committee before making a decision.

“Nigerians will soon know who the new coach is. The technical committee met on Thursday to discuss the matter, and we’re awaiting their report. Once we receive and approve it, we’ll make the announcement,” Gusau said in a short interview released by the NFF media on Tuesday.

Gusau further stated: “There are white and black candidates being considered. We will wait for the recommendation of the committee, which is what we will look at as a board to decide. The basic thing is that it’s going to be very soon because we are all concerned, and we want the new head coach to start immediately.”
