Kenneth Omeruo and Wilfred Ndidi have expressed their support for the newly appointed head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle. Chelle has taken on the challenging task of leading the team through a difficult qualifying campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Currently, the Super Eagles find themselves in a precarious position, sitting second from the bottom in Group C with only three points from four matches. Despite this poor start, Omeruo remains optimistic about the team’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup. During a live session on his X handle, which he co-hosted with Ndidi, the Kasimpasa star emphasized, “The new coach has something to give to the Super Eagles.”
Omeruo recalled the organized performance of the Mali national team during their friendly match last year and at the Africa Cup of Nations, stating, “And now with the talent in Nigeria, we expect even more.” Ndidi echoed this sentiment, sharing his belief in the team’s potential. “With our quality and the new coach, we will qualify for the 2026 World Cup,” the Leicester City player declared. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but affirmed, “It won’t be easy, but we’re all together in the task to qualify for the World Cup.”
As the qualifiers resume in March, the Super Eagles will face the Amavubi of Rwanda and the Warriors of Zimbabwe, presenting an opportunity for the team to improve their standing in the group.
