The Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, PSIRS, has announced a significant milestone in revenue generation, recording an all-time high of N31.14 billion in 2024.

PSIRS also stated that this remarkable achievement represents a substantial increase from previous years, with N15.9 billion generated in 2022 and N25.8 billion in 2023.

Chairman of PSIRS, Dr Jim Ways, made the disclosure while briefing journalists in Jos, the state capital, on Friday.

According to him, “The state’s revenue growth is a testament to the efforts of this service and the support of the state government.”

Ways attributed the success to the agency’s commitment to blocking leakages and improving efficiency in the tax regime.

“The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has set an ambitious target of N50 billion for 2025, and we are working towards achieving this goal.

“With N3.3 billion already generated in January 2025, the outlook is positive,” he stated.

The chairman emphasised the importance of cooperation from businesses and individuals in paying their taxes and encouraged them to fulfil their civic obligations.

“Payment of taxes will enable the government to provide better services and improve the overall quality of life in our state,” he said.
