President Donald Trump has reacted to China’s decision to impose a 34 per cent tariff on imports from the United States from April 10.

China’s new tariff as announced on Friday by the customs authorities followed a 34 percent duty imposed on Chinese goods by Trump.

Trump made the announcement on Wednesday, as part of a sweeping range of tariffs on trading partners across the globe.

Reports said that Beijing has also blacklisted 11 American companies, making it de facto impossible for the companies concerned to continue trading in China.

Similarly, China imposed export controls on several rare earth metals, which are often used to make vital components for digital devices to the United States with immediate effect.

Reacting, Trump in a post on Truth Social declared that “China played it wrong”

According to him, “China played it wrong, they panicked”, stressing that the planned tariff is “one thing they cannot afford to do”.
