Over 100 clerics and prophets in Rivers State have declared their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima. The religious leaders, organized under Rivers Pastors Unite for Tinubu (RPUT), made the announcement after a meeting in Port Harcourt on Monday. They asserted that Tinubu is the only candidate capable of solving the myriad challenges plaguing the country.

Pastor Sunday Edimeh, the coordinator of RPUT and founder of One Life Bible Church in Port Harcourt, read the group’s resolution. He claimed that none of the presidential candidates had supported the Christian community as much as Tinubu. Edimeh clarified, however, that this endorsement applies solely to the presidential election and does not extend to the governorship or other elections in Rivers State.

Among the clerics present were Pastor Julius Dan of the Apostolic Church Nigeria, Apostle Stephen Ngajaekwu of Christ King of Glory, Pastor John Monday of QWA Iboe Church, and several others. Quoting scripture, Edimeh urged Christians to stand for truth and to reciprocate Tinubu’s perceived goodwill by mobilising votes for him nationwide. He stated, “None of the leading presidential candidates has supported the Christian community as much as Bola Tinubu. He has sown only good seeds on the soil of the Christian community, and such should never be dismissed.”

Edimeh called on fellow clergymen and women to “stand with the truth” and warned against political attempts to create divisions on religious grounds. He emphasized that the choice of a running mate does not pose a threat to the Christian community and that Tinubu has shown no intolerance for the religious sentiments of all Nigerians. According to Edimeh, Tinubu has consistently demonstrated competence, grit, and tenacity, earning a reputation as a “leader of leaders” whose influence has been tested and trusted over time. He concluded by describing Tinubu as a “kingmaker” who has nurtured numerous political protégés regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.
