Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has praised the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that its accomplishments in the last two years have surpassed those of previous governments. Idris made this assertion during the 2025 Voice of Nigeria’s Forum, which was held in Abuja and themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: Citizen Engagement and National Security”.

According to Idris, the Tinubu administration has made significant progress, with notable achievements including the removal of fuel subsidies, the elimination of foreign exchange rackets, and substantial investments in rural infrastructure. The president recently commissioned a 30-kilometer coastal highway connecting Lagos to Calabar, and another major highway spanning 17 states from Sokoto to Badagry is also underway. Additionally, 73 dams are being constructed along this corridor, which will provide opportunities for power generation, agriculture, and job creation.

Idris highlighted the administration’s efforts to promote unity and development across the country, citing the implementation of local government autonomy and the establishment of new ministries focused on regional development and livestock production. A recent study suggests that optimizing the livestock sector could generate around N33 trillion for Nigeria. The minister also noted that the country’s security situation has improved, with increased cooperation among security agencies and a reduction in travel risks, as evidenced by the increased safety of road travel to Kaduna.

Idris emphasized the importance of recognizing the challenges faced by the administration, particularly in its early days, but expressed optimism about the country’s future under President Tinubu’s leadership. He urged the Nigerian media to report on security issues with patriotism and to deny space to unpatriotic elements, allowing the military and security agencies to effectively combat threats and ensure a better future for the country.

The minister’s comments come as the government celebrates the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration, marking a milestone in its efforts to drive progress and prosperity in Nigeria. With its focus on infrastructure development, economic growth, and security, the administration aims to create a brighter future for its citizens and solidify its position as a leader in the region.
