The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State is facing internal turmoil following the alleged suspension of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North, by his Igbere Ward. A letter purportedly signed by the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Paul Nwabuisi, along with the state Secretary, Chief Chidi Avajah, and the state Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, stated, “You are hereby suspended from the All Progressives Congress.”

Despite this, the party leadership has publicly refuted the claims of suspension. Party spokesperson Okey Ezeala dismissed the reports, attributing them to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a brief statement, Ezeala emphasized that the APC does not endorse the suspension narrative and asserted that there is no truth to the allegations. He characterized the reports as a malicious attempt by the PDP, motivated by their fear of an impending defeat in the upcoming elections.

The APC maintains that Orji Kalu continues to be the party’s candidate and that both the party and his constituents are pleased with his performance. Addressing the accusations of anti-party activities and other alleged offenses, the APC labeled these claims as unfounded, reiterating that Orji Kalu has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the party and its advancement.
