Victor Osimhen, Napoli’s in-form striker, has made history by becoming the second youngest player to score in eight consecutive Serie A games. This achievement came after he netted a goal in his club’s 2-0 victory over Empoli on Saturday. The Nigerian international had already scored in his previous seven league matches, and he added another to his tally in this game.
As anticipated, Napoli dominated the match from the outset, controlling possession and applying pressure on the Empoli defense. In the 28th minute, they extended their lead with a goal from none other than Victor Osimhen. The 24-year-old showcased his striker’s instinct by being the first to react to a rebound, calmly sending the ball into the net with a single touch to make the score 2-0.
Osimhen nearly scored his second goal just six minutes later, but Guglielmo Vicario made an impressive save to deny him. Despite his strong performance in the first half, Osimhen was unable to find the net again, and the match concluded with a 2-0 victory for Napoli. With this goal, Osimhen now has a total of 19 goals in Serie A this season. According to Opta, his strike against Empoli solidifies his status as the second youngest player, at 24 years and 58 days, to score in eight straight games, following Roberto Muzzi, who achieved this feat at 23 years and 165 days while playing for Cagliari in 1995.
