The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has achieved a significant victory in the recent presidential and National Assembly elections held on Saturday. He cleared all 17 local government areas of Enugu State, as confirmed by the results declared by the collation officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The results indicate that other political parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), struggled to secure even five percent of the votes.
The breakdown of the election results across the local government areas is as follows:
In Aninri LGA, there were 80,312 registered voters, with 12,217 accredited voters. The Labour Party received 11,339 votes, while the PDP managed only 395 votes. The total valid votes were 11,889, with 305 rejected votes.
Awgu LGA had 104,800 registered voters and 21,465 accredited voters. The Labour Party garnered 19,803 votes, while the PDP received 445 votes. The total valid votes were 20,713, with 566 rejected votes.
In Enugu East, out of 216,477 registered voters and 51,234 accredited voters, the Labour Party achieved 48,085 votes, while the PDP received 845 votes. The total valid votes were 49,729, with 1,385 rejected votes.
Enugu North reported 208,762 registered voters and 46,485 accredited voters. The Labour Party received 44,666 votes, while the PDP managed 339 votes. The total valid votes were 45,764, with 670 rejected votes.
In Enugu South, there were 178,654 registered voters and 40,347 accredited voters. The Labour Party secured 38,511 votes, while the PDP received 336 votes. The total valid votes were 39,554, with 779 rejected votes.
Ezeagu LGA had 88,877 registered voters and 18,419 accredited voters. The Labour Party received 16,245 votes, while the PDP garnered 537 votes. The total valid votes were 17,291, with 549 rejected votes.
Igbo Etiti reported 89,636 registered voters and 28,509 accredited voters. The Labour Party achieved 25,001 votes, while the PDP received 764 votes. The total valid votes were 26,646, with 720 rejected votes.
In Igbo Eze North, there were 134,230 registered voters and 27,883 accredited voters. The Labour Party received 15,125 votes, while the PDP managed 1,174 votes. The total valid votes were 16,818, with 645 rejected votes.
Igbo Eze South had 110,404 registered voters and 20,959 accredited voters. The Labour Party secured 17,855 votes, while the PDP received 1,009 votes. The total valid votes were 19,666, with 719 rejected votes.
Isi Uzo reported 80,433 registered voters and 19,660 accredited voters. The Labour Party received 16,822 votes, while the PDP garnered 1,768 votes. The total valid votes were 18,197, with 368 rejected votes.
Nkanu East had 82,959 registered voters and 13,890 accredited voters. The Labour Party achieved 11,746 votes, while the PDP received 1,430 votes. The total valid votes were 13,490, with 368 rejected votes.
In Nkanu West, there were 101,625 registered voters and 16,792 accredited voters. The Labour Party received 15,026 votes, while the PDP garnered 550 votes. The total valid votes were 16,220, with 560 rejected votes.
Nsukka reported 204,177 registered voters and 58,885 accredited voters. The Labour Party achieved 54,245 votes, while the PDP received 2,037 votes. The total valid votes were 60,877, with 1,290 rejected votes.
Oji River had 83,436 registered voters and 20,536 accredited voters. The Labour Party secured 17,793 votes, while the PDP received 864 votes. The total valid votes were 19,199, with 368 rejected votes.
Udenu LGA reported 133,061 registered voters and 29,987 accredited voters. The Labour Party received 26,633 votes, while the PDP garnered 1,157 votes. The total valid votes were 28,827, with 1,105 rejected votes.
Udi LGA had 150,254 registered voters and 39,062 accredited voters. The Labour Party achieved 35,408 votes, while the PDP received 936 votes. The total valid votes were 37,728, with 1,177 rejected votes.
Finally, Uzo-Uwani reported 64,328 registered voters and 14,205 accredited voters. The Labour Party secured 11,975 votes, while the PDP garnered 1,164 votes. The total valid votes were 13,868, with 316 rejected votes.
Overall, Peter Obi’s performance across Enugu State underscores a strong support base for the Labour Party, significantly outpacing other political contenders.
