9mobile Rebrands as T2, Targets Digital-First Future

On August 8, 2025, Nigeria’s fourth-largest telecom operator, 9mobile, officially rebranded as T2 at an unveiling held in Lagos. The announcement was made by CEO Obafemi Banigbe (also referred to as Femi Banigbe in some reports) during a high-profile event at venues including the Eko Convention Centre and Eko Hotels and Suites.

Banigbe framed the rebrand as more than aesthetic—it signals an ambitious pivot toward a digital-first, cloud-native, data-driven, and API-ready business model. He emphasized T2’s mission to become a “platform for possibilities” and a “digital lifestyle brand” tailored to Nigeria’s youthful and creative demographic.

The new identity also comes with a striking visual shift: T2 has adopted orange as its corporate colour, reinforcing a bold, vibrant brand personality.

This rebranding occurs roughly one year after LH Telecommunication Limited acquired a 95.5% stake in the former 9mobile operator, signaling a renewed ownership structure and strategic direction.
