Labour Party candidate Mr. Benedict Etanabene has been declared the winner of Saturday’s National Assembly elections for the Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie Federal Constituency seat in Delta State. Etanabene, a lawyer and former staff member of the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun, triumphed over former two-term House of Representatives member and PDP candidate Evelyn Oboro, as well as APC candidate Mr. Henry Baro.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Etanabene’s victory, marking a significant achievement for the Labour Party in Delta State, which has now secured two seats in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly. The results released by INEC on Monday night revealed that the Labour Party garnered 37,107 votes, while Oboro received 29,917 votes, placing her second. Baro finished third with 22,388 votes.

With this victory, the Labour Party has become the first opposition party in Delta State to win the House of Representatives seat for the Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie Federal Constituency. Earlier, the party had also won the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat, defeating the incumbent PDP candidate and Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu.

In response to his victory, Etanabene expressed his joy and gratitude, commending the people of the Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie Constituency for their overwhelming support for the Labour Party during the elections.
