Senator Kabiru Marafa has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership style, describing him as a “use‑and‑dump” leader who discards individuals after exploiting them. Marafa, who recently resigned from the All Progressives Congress, made these remarks during a television interview on Monday, citing the treatment of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El‑Rufai as evidence.
According to Marafa, the experiences of El‑Rufai, former Kano Governor Ganduje and himself illustrate a consistent pattern of behavior by President Tinubu. “The treatment of El‑Rufai, Ganduje, and myself has convinced us that Mr. President is a ‘use and dump leader,’” he said.
El‑Rufai, a key supporter of Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, has also voiced disappointment with the current administration. In a recent interview he noted that 30 million Nigerians have fallen into poverty and that the agricultural sector has been severely impacted under Tinubu’s leadership. He further highlighted a sharp economic decline, pointing to the exchange rate’s rise from N400 to N1,600.
These comments come as Nigeria’s economy faces numerous challenges, with many citizens experiencing hardship due to rising poverty and a declining standard of living. The statements by Marafa and El‑Rufai are likely to spark further discussion and debate about the country’s current state and the effectiveness of President Tinubu’s leadership. As the government grapples with these economic difficulties, observers will be watching closely to see how the administration responds to the criticisms leveled against it.
