The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has rejected former Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa’s claim that he delivered one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 election. In a statement issued from Gusau, APC Chairman Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani called the allegation an unfounded exaggeration. He stressed that Tinubu’s votes in Zamfara were secured through the party’s established structures and respected leaders, not through any individual’s effort.
Danfulani highlighted Marafa’s lack of electoral credibility, noting that he was voted out of the Senate by his own constituents in 2019 and could not even win his own constituency in the 2023 polls. Consequently, Marafa’s claim of delivering one million votes for Tinubu is baseless. The chairman attributed the party’s success in Zamfara to the people’s confidence in the APC and to the leadership of figures such as Governor Bello Matawalle and Senator Abdulaziz Yari.
He also dismissed Marafa’s recent threat to withhold votes in the 2027 elections as groundless, arguing that the former senator has lost relevance in Zamfara politics after failing to win any ward or local‑government seat. Danfulani suggested that Marafa’s statements stem from frustration over his inability to secure positions or appointments in President Tinubu’s administration.
The APC in Zamfara remains strong and united, Danfulani affirmed, pointing to the party’s recent victory in the Kaura Namoda South State Assembly by‑election as evidence of continued grassroots support. He urged party members to ignore Marafa’s remarks, emphasizing that the APC’s strength lies in its collective leadership and the confidence of the electorate. The party’s response underscores its commitment to setting the record straight and preserving its reputation in Zamfara State.
