A recent joint operation between the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai and ground troops neutralized more than 30 terrorists in Borno State, Nigeria. The Nigerian Air Force stated that the mission took place on Friday in Dar‑El‑Jamal village, Bama Local Government Area, after receiving reports of heavy terrorist engagement against friendly forces.
The air component promptly launched an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Air Interdiction (AI) mission. Contact was established with ground forces in Banki, who confirmed that reinforcements were en route. Upon arriving at Dar‑Jamel, the aircrew visually identified friendly forces, and ISR scans showed terrorists fleeing northward toward nearby bushes. A series of precise, successive strikes engaged the fleeing insurgents, resulting in the neutralization of over 30 combatants.
Shortly thereafter, reinforcement troops arrived, secured the area, and stabilized the situation. This coordinated success highlights the effective synergy between air and ground forces and underscores the importance of joint efforts in counter‑terrorism operations. The Nigerian Air Force reiterated its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, protecting vulnerable communities, and restoring lasting peace to the North East and beyond. In collaboration with sister services and other security agencies, the NAF aims to ensure the safety and security of all citizens across the country.
The operation marks a significant milestone in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the region and demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated military action. The North East of Nigeria has long been plagued by terrorist activity from groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), which have targeted civilians and military personnel. Operations Hadin Kai and Lafiya Dole are key components of the Nigerian military’s response. The recent joint success testifies to the progress being made and highlights the necessity of continued cooperation and coordination among military and security agencies.
