Lagos APC Dismisses Tambuwal’s Claim on Tinubu Reelection

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected claims by Senator Aminu Tambuwal that a nationwide consensus is forming to prevent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from seeking re-election in 2027. Tambuwal, a former governor of Sokoto State, had stated in a television interview that the effort to unseat Tinubu was a collective national effort, rather than a northern agenda.

According to Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC spokesperson, the senator’s remarks are “misleading and unfounded.” Oladejo emphasized that the prevailing sentiment across the country is in favor of supporting good governance and sustaining the administration’s reforms. He noted that President Tinubu was democratically elected in 2023 by Nigerians from every region and background, debunking opposition claims of imposition.

Oladejo advised Tambuwal to focus on addressing issues surrounding his record, citing “recent revelations” that have placed him under scrutiny from anti-graft agencies. The APC spokesperson also criticized ongoing opposition efforts to build alliances ahead of the 2027 elections, describing them as fragile and unsustainable.

The Lagos APC spokesperson highlighted the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which is already delivering results in critical sectors such as road construction, job creation, and economic reforms. While the opposition engages in media criticism, the administration is working to tackle power challenges and lay foundations for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

The rejection of Tambuwal’s claims by the Lagos APC chapter reflects the ongoing political dynamics in Nigeria, where the ruling party is seeking to consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 elections. The outcome of these elections will be closely watched, as they will determine the trajectory of the country’s development and governance. For now, the APC remains confident in its ability to deliver on its campaign promises and secure another term in office.
