Gov. Sani inaugurates Makarfi road project, commits to rural devt — Daily Nigerian

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has launched the construction of the Durum Kuruntumawa Road in Makarfi Local Government Area, underscoring his administration’s commitment to equitable development across the state. The project aims to address long‑standing infrastructural deficits in rural communities; Makarfi is one of twelve local government areas in Kaduna that have not seen a completed road project in the past decade.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Sani emphasized the need for inclusive development, noting that Kaduna State comprises 23 local government areas and that development efforts must be evenly distributed. He stressed that the state’s resources belong to all citizens, regardless of location, and that his administration is dedicated to ensuring balanced development across every area.

The Durum Kuruntumawa Road is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy, as Makarfi is a major agricultural hub producing maize, sugarcane, tomatoes and soybeans. Since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Sani’s administration has initiated 85 road projects covering 785 kilometres statewide, with 44 already completed and several others nearing completion. An additional 15 road contracts have been awarded as part of the second phase of infrastructure development.

Governor Sani urged community leaders and residents to take ownership of public infrastructure, stressing that community stewardship is essential for the longevity of these projects. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritising rural development and ensuring that no community is left behind.

The construction of the Durum Kuruntumawa Road is seen as a symbol of progress and a lifeline for farmers, traders, students and families in the area. The project forms part of the state government’s broader agenda to address infrastructural deficits and promote economic growth in rural areas, marking a significant step toward fulfilling the promise of inclusive and equitable development across Kaduna State.
