Kaduna CAN assures Gov. Sani of support, prayers — Daily Nigerian

The United Kingdom has praised Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his efforts to address security challenges in the state. The commendation was made by Cynthia Rowe, Head of the UK Development Cooperation, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development, during the Kaduna State Mutual Accountability Framework Dialogue. Rowe noted that the improved security situation has led the UK to revise its travel advisory for Kaduna State from red to amber, emphasizing that security is a crucial factor in facilitating growth and development.

Rowe highlighted that Kaduna State has made significant progress in overcoming its security challenges, thanks in part to Governor Sani’s initiatives. In response, the UK government announced plans to launch the FCDO SPRiNG programme in Kaduna State. The programme aims to address the root causes of conflict, strengthen peace‑building mechanisms, and support inclusive governance. It will provide tailored support to consolidate peace gains, promote social cohesion, and help communities affected by past insecurity to thrive.

The UK has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Kaduna State’s development aspirations, focusing on strengthening economic growth and prosperity. To achieve this, the UK will work to deepen private‑sector involvement and boost investment in critical sectors of the state’s economy. Governor Sani highlighted the strong partnership between the FCDO and the Kaduna State Government, which has yielded tangible results in infrastructure, social services, and human‑capital development. He cited key achievements such as expanded access to quality healthcare, improved education outcomes, and significant growth in the agricultural sector.

The state’s 2025 budget allocates over 10 % of funding to agriculture—the highest allocation in recent years—targeting support for smallholder farmers and promoting food security. The partnership between the UK and Kaduna State is expected to continue, building on the momentum of recent security gains and promoting sustainable development. The launch of the FCDO SPRiNG programme represents a significant step toward these goals, and the UK government’s commitment to supporting Kaduna State’s development aspirations is a positive development for the state and its people.
