The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has taken aim at the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the upcoming Anambra election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, over alleged debt problems. APGA says Ukachukwu’s recent public embarrassment at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja raises serious questions about his integrity.
Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, national coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, noted that this is the second time in recent months that Ukachukwu has been publicly disgraced by his creditors. A video has surfaced showing Ukachukwu’s business partners confronting him about unpaid debts while he campaigns to become governor of Anambra State. Obigwe pointed out that the incident at the Transcorp Hilton, where Ukachukwu and his family were blocked by his business partners, indicates that their patience has run out. He also recalled a prior episode in which a man protested naked in front of Ukachukwu’s residence, demanding payment and cursing the candidate.
APGA’s spokesperson argued that the viral video of Ukachukwu being confronted by his business partners provides sufficient reason for the electorate to reject him. He claimed that Ukachukwu’s sole interest is to use Anambra’s resources to settle his personal debts rather than to serve the people.
The Anambra governorship election is scheduled for 8 November and has attracted several candidates, including Ukachukwu on the APC platform. The controversy surrounding his debt issues may affect his chances, as voters weigh his suitability for public office. The incident has sparked debate about the importance of integrity and financial responsibility in political leadership. As the election approaches, voters will watch closely to see how the candidates respond to allegations and controversies, and the outcome will hinge on each candidate’s credibility and ability to convince the electorate of their vision for the state.
