The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned its members that anyone who undermines party unity or disrespects Governor Umar Namadi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will face sanctions. State Deputy Chairman Alhaji Nasiru Dahiru Jahun announced the warning during a visit to Government House, where he led a delegation of party leaders to reaffirm their loyalty to the governor.
The delegation, which included members of the State Executive Committee and chairmen from all 27 local government areas, expressed unequivocal support for Governor Namadi, describing him as the recognized leader of the APC in Jigawa State. They also endorsed President Tinubu and Governor Namadi for a second term in 2027 and praised the governor’s administration for “wonderful transformation and unprecedented achievements” over the past two years.
Despite these affirmations, the APC in Jigawa is experiencing internal tensions. Factions loyal to former Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and those supporting incumbent Governor Umar Namadi have been clashing openly since the 2023 transition of power. The dispute has escalated into a public confrontation, threatening party unity. Observers warn that, if not managed carefully, the crisis could weaken the APC’s dominance in Jigawa ahead of the 2027 elections.
Governor Namadi has assured party leadership that his administration is committed to fairness and cooperation with the party, emphasizing that both the federal and state APC governments are focused on people‑oriented policies and developmental projects. However, neither Governor Namadi nor former Governor Badaru has issued a direct statement on the ongoing conflict. The situation remains under close watch, as the APC’s ability to resolve its internal disputes will be crucial to maintaining its position in the state.
