Epstein files: Marjorie Taylor Greene pushes for release

US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has renewed her efforts to release the remaining files related to Jeffrey Epstein, a financier and convicted sex offender who died in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges. Greene is backing a House resolution that seeks to compel the Justice Department to release all remaining files related to Epstein. The resolution, introduced by Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, requires 218 signatures to bypass committee leadership and bring it directly to the floor.

Greene has claimed that “powerful people” are trying to silence her over her push to have the Epstein files released. She has taken to social media to reassure her followers that she is “not suicidal” and that if she were to be harmed in any way, it would not be self-inflicted. Greene has also warned her followers to “find out” what really happened if she were ever found dead, suggesting that foreign governments or powerful individuals may be involved in trying to keep the information from coming out.

The White House has been pressing lawmakers privately to abandon the petition, but Greene has stated that she has no intention of backing down. She has emphasized that her goal is to expose the “Epstein rape and pedophile network” and to stand with girls and women who have been sexually abused and raped. Earlier this month, the House Oversight Committee released 33,295 pages of Justice Department records on Epstein, including redacted court files, surveillance footage, and other evidence.

Recently, House Democrats released another batch of documents, including calendars, flight logs, and financial ledgers naming prominent individuals such as Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Steve Bannon. Republicans have accused Democrats of “cherry-picking” the documents to spotlight conservatives while withholding material that could implicate Democrats. The release of the Epstein files has sparked a heated debate, with many calling for greater transparency and accountability. The outcome of the petition and the potential release of the remaining files remain to be seen.
