APC describes remaining PDP leaders as undertakers waiting for party burial

APC debunks news of automatic tickets for NASS members — Daily Nigerian

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has responded to the recent defections of key leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. According to APC Spokesman Seye Oladejo, the PDP’s claim that defections will not affect the party is “laughable” and indicative of a “chronic state of denial, delusion, and self-deception.”

The APC spokesperson attributed the wave of defections to the PDP’s internal weaknesses, including “years of internal deceit, lack of ideology, and serial betrayal among its leaders.” Oladejo stated that the ongoing exodus from the PDP confirms that even its loyalists have lost faith in the party, which has failed to reform itself or offer a viable alternative to Nigerians.

The APC is not surprised by the defections, citing the PDP’s history of mismanaging the nation during its 16-year rule. Oladejo claimed that the PDP has only thrived on propaganda and empty rhetoric, and cannot suddenly reinvent itself as a credible opposition party. He described the remaining PDP members as “undertakers” waiting to perform the final rites for a “lifeless political carcass.”

The recent defections include several PDP governors, members of the House of Assembly, and other key figures who have joined the APC. In Ondo State, two remaining PDP members in the House of Assembly defected to the APC, citing internal crisis in the opposition party. The APC views these defections as endorsements of its commitment to national renewal and people-centered governance.

The PDP has been advised to conduct an honest post-mortem of its failures and come to terms with its waning relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape. With the era of deceitful opposition politics seemingly over, the APC believes that the Nigerian people are speaking loudly, and the message is clear: they prefer a party that represents progress, stability, and genuine leadership. As the political landscape continues to shift, it remains to be seen how the PDP will respond to its dwindling membership and loss of influence.
