Nigerian State Mourns the Loss of Emir of Zuru, Prepares for Funeral Rites

A high-level delegation from the Kebbi State Government has arrived in Zuru, Nigeria, to oversee preparations for the funeral of the late Emir of Zuru, Major General Muhammad Sani Sami (Rtd). The Emir passed away on Saturday night in a London hospital, prompting an outpouring of condolences from across the state and beyond.

The advanced delegation, led by the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, is comprised of top government officials, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abubakar Garba Dutsinmari; Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi; Commissioner for Health, Abdullahi Umar Faruk Muslim; Commissioner for Works, and the Commissioner for Agriculture, Shehu Muazu.

Their primary objective is to ensure a smooth and dignified funeral process, including the reception of the late Emir’s body, burial arrangements, and paying respects to the bereaved family. In a statement released on Monday, Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris on Media and Publicity, expressed the Governor’s deep sorrow over the Emir’s passing, adding that he had directed all necessary support to be provided for a befitting burial.

As the state mourns the loss of its revered leader, the people of Kebbi are rallying around the Emir’s family, offering their condolences and support during this difficult period.
