The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State has rejected claims that it is favoring certain aspirants in the upcoming local government elections slated for December 25, 2025. State Chairman Bello Ayuba said the party has formally notified the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) of its intention to contest the polls and has set up four committees—Sale of Forms, Screening, Appeal, and Reconciliation—to ensure a transparent and fair process across the state’s 27 local government areas and 312 wards.
The Sale of Forms Committee has already begun distributing nomination forms, free of charge, to party members seeking chairmanship or councillorship positions. The Screening Committee will verify all submitted documents, a task expected to take about one week before the primaries commence. Even when only a single aspirant contests a position, the committees will still be convened to confirm the candidate’s popularity and acceptability among party members, thereby upholding internal democracy and a level playing field.
Ayuba emphasized that the APC is committed to treating all aspirants equally, with no one being denied access to nomination forms. The party’s stance is that every aspirant should have an equal opportunity to participate in the election process. As the election date approaches, the APC is making the necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth, transparent contest.
