The All Progressives Congress (APC) governors have agreed to strengthen collaboration between federal and state governments to improve governance and development nationwide. This resolution was outlined in a communiqué issued after the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) meeting, which took place in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, from October 16 to 17.
The meeting, attended by APC governors from across Nigeria, focused on addressing the country’s socio‑economic challenges and evaluating the role of states in driving national development. Governors discussed the need for improved coordination among the three tiers of government to promote effective service delivery and inclusive governance.
A notable highlight was the formal reception of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah into the APC, raising the number of APC‑controlled states to 24. The forum also reviewed ongoing economic and social reforms across the federation, commending efforts to improve fiscal stability, food security, power supply, and infrastructure.
The governors reaffirmed their commitment to aligning state‑level initiatives with national development priorities and pledged continued support for policies aimed at improving citizens’ welfare. The communiqué, read by the forum’s chairman, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, emphasized the importance of strengthening federal‑state collaboration to enhance governance and development.
The meeting’s outcome underscores the APC governors’ efforts to tackle Nigeria’s socio‑economic challenges and promote national development. With the party now controlling 24 states, its influence on national policies and development is likely to grow, and the governors’ commitment to improving citizens’ welfare and supporting economic and social reforms marks a step toward addressing the country’s development challenges.
