Twitch Expands Features for Streamers and Viewers with Dual Format Streaming and AI Integration

Twitch unveils its next era: dual-format streaming, AI clips, and new sponsorship tools

TwitchCon 2025 has commenced, marking the platform’s 10th anniversary with significant updates aimed at enhancing user experience. Dan Clancy, CEO of Twitch, emphasized the platform’s commitment to creating an optimal environment for both streamers and viewers, focusing on expansion and community support.

One notable introduction is dual-format streaming, allowing streamers to broadcast in both vertical and horizontal formats simultaneously. This feature, which began testing in August, caters to the diverse preferences of laptop and phone users. The move is part of Twitch’s broader strategy to increase its user base and promote livestreaming.

In line with the current trend in social media, Twitch is also investing in artificial intelligence (AI). The platform has partnered with Meta’s AI glasses, enabling streamers to go live directly from the device. Additionally, Twitch is utilizing AI to automatically generate clips from previous streams, making it easier for viewers to catch up on missed content. This feature is designed to keep users engaged on the platform even when their favorite streamers are offline.

Furthermore, Twitch has announced updates to its sponsorship tools, building on the success of its self-promotion feature for streamers, which resulted in a 30 to 45 percent increase in gifting revenue for medium-sized creators. The platform plans to roll out sponsorship offers to all monetizing streamers, including Affiliates, in the coming months.

Other updates include enhancements to community guideline enforcement, expansions to the Creator Clubs Program, and the introduction of two new roles: lead moderator and a role for agents, managers, or representatives. These changes reflect Twitch’s ongoing efforts to foster a vibrant and supportive community for its users.

As the platform continues to evolve, these updates underscore Twitch’s commitment to innovation and user satisfaction. With its 10th anniversary serving as a milestone, Twitch is poised to further solidify its position in the livestreaming market, offering enhanced experiences for both creators and viewers alike. The forthcoming months will be crucial in assessing the impact of these changes and the platform’s ability to attract new users while retaining its existing community.
