Streamer Emiru reportedly assaulted during meet-and-greet at TwitchCon 2025

A notable incident occurred at TwitchCon 2025, a prominent event for streamers and gamers, when popular cosplayer and Twitch streamer Emiru was allegedly assaulted during a meet‑and‑greet on October 17. Emiru, who has nearly two million followers, was approached by an individual who grabbed her and attempted to kiss her. She pushed the person away before security intervened and removed the individual from the premises. Despite the assault, Emiru returned to complete the meet‑and‑greet.

The incident was captured on video and posted to social media, where it has garnered nearly 400,000 views. The perpetrator’s behavior has been widely condemned, and many have praised Emiru’s composure in returning to the event. Twitch responded by emphasizing its commitment to attendee safety. A spokesperson called the behavior “completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting” and confirmed that the individual has been banned indefinitely from Twitch, both online and at in‑person events. Twitch reiterated its zero‑tolerance policy for harassment.

The episode highlights ongoing concerns about safety and harassment at public events, especially for female streamers. Earlier this year, Twitch’s head of community, Mary Kish, stressed the importance of educating streamers about harassment and creating safe spaces. TwitchCon has faced criticism over attendee safety before, prompting some streamers to skip the event due to harassment worries. Emiru herself has previously endured high‑profile harassment, including a reported death threat while livestreaming in Santa Monica in March.

The TwitchCon 2025 incident serves as a reminder of the need for continued efforts to ensure safety and prevent harassment at public gatherings. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has pledged to improve safety protocols, and the company’s response to this event will be closely watched. As the gaming and streaming community grows, addressing safety concerns and preventing harassment will remain a key priority.
