Zamfara Governor Dismisses Defection Rumors

Gov Lawal has no plan to join APC – Zamfara govt

The Zamfara State Government has categorically denied rumors suggesting that Governor Dauda Lawal is contemplating a defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement released in Gusau, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media, Press and Public Affairs, described the reports as false and misleading.

According to Kaura, there is no truth to the claims that Governor Lawal is considering abandoning the PDP, the party under which he was elected during the 2023 general elections. The governor’s loyalty to the PDP remains unwavering, with Kaura emphasizing that the mandate given to Governor Lawal was through the PDP, and there is no reason for him to abandon the party that brought him to power.

The PDP in Zamfara remains united and committed to its development goals, with Governor Lawal’s administration focused on improving governance, enhancing security, and fulfilling campaign promises made to the people of the state. Kaura urged the public to disregard the rumors, stressing that the governor’s commitment to the PDP and the people of Zamfara is unwavering.

The denial comes as the state government continues to work towards implementing its development agenda, with a focus on addressing the security challenges and improving the lives of the people of Zamfara. The PDP’s unity and commitment to its goals are seen as crucial in achieving these objectives, and Governor Lawal’s loyalty to the party is expected to play a significant role in this regard.

As the state government moves forward with its development plans, the denial of the defection rumors is likely to reassure the people of Zamfara and the PDP faithful that the governor remains committed to the party and its ideals. With the state facing numerous challenges, the governor’s focus on improving governance, security, and fulfilling campaign promises is expected to be crucial in addressing the needs of the people and ensuring the continued development of the state.
