You only have 4 years, focus on governance not political wars – Group tells Aiyedatiwa

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration of prioritising propaganda and self‑promotion over effective governance. The PDP claims the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has resorted to a “government of blackmail,” marked by deceit and misinformation.

PDP Director of Media and Publicity Wande T. Ajayi urged the government to improve transparency by publishing a list of contractors, payment records and the current status of the 2025 budget implementation. Ajayi warned that the PDP will not tolerate threats or attempts to silence critics under the Cybercrime Act, and said the party will focus on exposing the administration’s failures to address hunger, unemployment and infrastructure decay. She questioned the government’s claim of defending truth, pointing to stalled projects, struggling health and education systems, and the recent strike at Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA). According to the PDP spokesperson, true leadership is demonstrated through conduct, not threats.

In response, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s Special Assistant on Digital Media, Yomi Oyekan, asserted that the administration is making progress in fixing the state’s broken systems. Oyekan highlighted that salaries and pensions are being paid, projects are ongoing, and the quality of life for Ondo residents is improving. He advised the PDP to acknowledge these achievements rather than seeking attention through criticism.

The exchange underscores the ongoing tension between the ruling APC and the opposition PDP as Ondo State navigates its development challenges. Transparency and accountability remain central concerns for citizens and stakeholders, and the contrasting calls for openness and claims of progress highlight the need for constructive dialogue and collaboration to address the state’s pressing issues.
