PDP Denies Forgery Claims Over National Convention Letter

The Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee has refuted allegations of signature forgery made by its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. According to the party, Anyanwu personally signed a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission announcing the party’s upcoming national convention, scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November.

At a press conference held in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba disclosed that Anyanwu had signed several official letters, including the one notifying INEC of the convention, which is set to occur on November 15 and 16. Ologunagba noted that these letters were signed hours before the 102nd National Executive Committee meeting, which took place on August 25.

The denial comes as the party prepares for its national convention, a significant event in Nigeria’s political landscape. The convention is expected to bring together party members and leaders to discuss key issues and make important decisions about the party’s future. The PDP’s National Working Committee has sought to address the allegations of signature forgery, which could have potentially undermined the legitimacy of the convention and the party’s activities.

By confirming Anyanwu’s involvement in signing the letters, the party aims to reassure its members and the public that its internal processes are transparent and legitimate. The incident highlights the importance of verifying information and ensuring the authenticity of documents, particularly in the context of political parties and electoral processes.

As the party moves forward with its convention, it is likely that the issue of signature forgery will continue to be monitored closely. The PDP’s ability to address the allegations and maintain transparency will be crucial in maintaining the trust of its members and the broader public. With the convention approaching, the party will need to ensure that its internal processes are robust and that its activities are conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
