November 1 LG elections: Niger Gov Bago flags off APC campaign

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has officially launched its campaign for the local government council elections scheduled for November 1, 2025. The kickoff event took place in Minna, where Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving citizens’ lives at both state and local levels. He urged Niger State voters to support APC candidates in all 25 chairmanship and 274 councillorship positions, prayed for peaceful and successful elections, and called on party stakeholders and supporters to work diligently toward a decisive victory.

Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly and Director‑General of the APC State Campaign Council, described the upcoming elections as a test of the party’s integrity, capacity, and popularity. He expressed confidence that every APC candidate would emerge victorious. Representing the National Chairman, APC National Vice Chairman for the North Central zone, Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, highlighted the party’s numerous nationwide achievements that reflect its “change” mantra and urged the electorate to vote for APC candidates in the council elections.

Alhaji Aminu Musa Bobi, Niger State APC Chairman, pledged that the party would adhere to all electoral guidelines and accept the election results. He encouraged party faithful and the general public to turn out in large numbers to support APC candidates. Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, also addressed the crowd, urging residents to reciprocate the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bago by voting for APC candidates, thereby sustaining the delivery of democratic dividends.

The local government council elections are significant because they will determine the leadership of Niger State’s 25 local governments. With the APC campaigning actively, the party is poised to make a strong showing, and the poll outcomes are likely to influence the state’s governance and development. As the election date approaches, the people of Niger State will be watching closely to see how the parties perform.
