African Democratic Congress Suspends Kebbi State Chairman

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has suspended a member, Sule-Iko Sadeeq, for allegedly declaring himself as the party’s state chairman without authorization. This decision was announced in a statement by the state publicity secretary, Abubakar Atiku-Musa, on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi.

According to the statement, the suspension is effective immediately, following recent developments within the party. The decision was made after due consultation and in line with the party’s constitution and directives from the National Working Committee (NWC). The NWC has resolved that all state chairmen should retain their positions until the completion of their tenure, which expires in May 2026.

The party’s coalition leader was reportedly unaware of any self-proclamation or unilateral assumption of office by Sadeeq without due consultation or authorization. As a result, the State Working Committee (SWC) of ADC, Kebbi, has officially suspended Dr. Sule-Iko Sadeeq from the party and warned him against participating in any party activities.

The statement reaffirmed Sufiyanu Bala as the duly recognized and constitutional chairman of the ADC in the state. It also called on security agencies to take necessary steps to stop Sadeeq from parading himself as chairman or engaging in any party activities under that title. All party members, supporters, and the general public are urged to disregard any unauthorized claims or statements from Dr. Sadeeq that contradict the official position of the party.

The suspension of Sadeeq is a significant development in the ADC’s Kebbi State chapter, highlighting the importance of adhering to the party’s constitution and directives. The move is expected to maintain order and stability within the party, ensuring that its activities are conducted in a legitimate and authorized manner. As the situation unfolds, it is likely that the party will continue to take steps to enforce its rules and maintain its leadership structure.
