The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for collecting Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State to November 2. The extension, announced by Victoria Eta‑Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, follows appeals from citizens and stakeholders who felt the original timeframe was insufficient. Initially set for October 29, the deadline now gives voters an additional four days to obtain their cards.
The new deadline applies to all registered voters who have not yet collected their PVCs, including those who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. Eta‑Messi urged these individuals to take advantage of the extended period and collect their cards at designated centers in all 326 registration areas across the state.
Collecting a PVC is a crucial step in the electoral process, enabling citizens to vote and have their voices heard. By lengthening the collection period, INEC aims to boost voter turnout and ensure that every eligible citizen can exercise their right to vote. The commission has assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to facilitate smooth collection at the designated centers in each ward.
With the new deadline of November 2, voters in Anambra State are encouraged to act promptly and obtain their PVCs, helping to make the upcoming elections more inclusive and accessible.
